About

Epistemologies for the documentation of affect and becoming in cultural manifestations in performance (1969-1979)

Objectives

RESONANCE’s objectives are:

  1. To map out, historicise, and document a constellation of works created by artists and collectives across all areas of performance-based and the performing arts.
  2. To develop a new epistemological framework in order to conserve and document performance-based manifestations across disciplines and time periods.
  3. To create a methodological toolkit aiming to understand and preserve these works and their memorialisation.
  4.  To promote these frameworks and tools in the creative industries through policy changes.

Dissemination

RESONANCE will disseminate results in three dimensions: scholarly outputs, research-led science communication, and outreach activities.

Scholarly outputs include the publication of six open-access peer-reviewed publications, of which at least three will be in indexed journals; the publication of 11 zines; the publication of an edited volume with an academic publisher and an Almanac; as well as the publication of a white paper to be developed with cultural institutions in the context of the Collaborative Laboratories. The project also aims to make available the data set gathered in the context of the project. Beyond publications, RESONANCE is also planning an international conference to be held in 2028, as well as four public talks. All text-, sound-, and video-based outputs will be made available online. Research-led science communication will consist of the publication of a 12-episode podcast, the development of the Collaborative Laboratories, and a reading group open to all members of the academic community. Outreach activities include performances, courses and tours.
